Carson Willingham is a sales professional working both with Kansas-based company Cowboy Stone, LLC and seasonally with SportsCon. At SportsCon, the first-ever professional sports convention, Carson Willingham sells partnerships and booth space.
The SportsCon experience is about bringing professional athletes directly to the fan, featuring often more than 200 pros from various sports, including the NFL, NBA, and even UFC. At SportsCon, fans can interact directly with their favorite athletes and sports stars, attend basketball camps with pro-NBA players, and get photographs and autographs from their favorites. SportsCon got its start in 2019, developing from the organization known as The National Fantasy Football Convention (NFFC). Co-owned by former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Tony Romo, along with other professional athletes, the NFFC originally held conventions in the northern part of Texas focusing only on fantasy football. The first SportsCon in 2019 still featured fantasy football, but with input from the fans, the convention also brought in more than 150 professional athletes and top personalities in the industry to interact directly with the fans. SportsCon CEO Andy Alberth credits Comic-Con with inspiring SportsCon’s creation; seeing the success of Comic-Con, Alberth hoped to create something similar to that event but focused on sports. Though the 2020 SportsCon was canceled due to the pandemic, it hopes to resume in 2021.
